Last computer day

Good evening class,

Tonight is our final class in the computer room. I hope that you learned some new things. If you want to continue to visit this website, it is available to you. You can contact me by leaving messages here, too. If you want to more practice with English or computers, you can use the links to the right.

Tonight we will start with some grammar practice.
http://www.english-test.net/esl/learn/english/grammar/ei039/esl-test.php.

Next, we will play some word games which are a fun way to learn vocabulary, practice spelling, and some computer skills. Use this link.

Then we will look at the sidebar on the right to see how to continue to practice English and get information even when we're no longer studying together.

Thank you very much for all your hard work in my class. I have really enjoyed working with you.

Not an ESL site

There are many websites that you can use to help you to learn English. Some of them are made specifically for English languages learners. Others are useful but they are intended for people who know English already. We can still use them to help us learn English. One example is the website for NY1, the local news channel.

Use Google to find the website. Then listen and read the stories you find most interesting.

We can also use karaoke videos.  For example, if I Google, "Allentown lyrics" and click on 'videos' I can find this song. Try Googling your favorite song with the word, "lyrics".

Good evening class,

Today we will start by practicing a little grammar. Please go to this page and work on it for 20 minutes.

Then we will go to a website where you can watch full programs on many different topics from the tv show, Frontline. We will watch the video and look through the website and think about how we can use it to improve English language skills. Click on the Frontline link, then find 'topics' and click on 'education' and then on

Educating Sergeant Pantzke

Then we will finish writing our stories.

PowerPoint Presentation and job interviews

Good evening class,

Today we're going to start by viewing a slide show that was produced using a presentation program called PowerPoint. It's about a program that helps students get better jobs. Here is the link.

Then I want you to listen to the audio and answer the questions of this exercise.

Finally you can watch a YouTube video that talks about finding a job using transferrable skills.

If you have time, you can also watch this video about resumes. This is sort of an advertisement, but it has good information, too.
